| The
Dorothy Canfield Fisher (DCF) Children's Book
Award, first given in 1957, is co-sponsored
by the Vermont state PTA and the Vermont
Department of Libraries. Each year, 30 books are
selected as candidates for the award. Students
in Grades 4-8 who read at least 5 books from the
list are eligible to vote for their favorite in
the spring. Brownell Library has a second set
of the DCF Books available for students to check
out, thanks to funding from the Friends of
Brownell Library. Find them on a special shelf
in the Youth Library.
Brownell Library sponsors a monthly series of
DCF Booktalks for Homeschoolers from
October to March, with voting in April. (Find
dates on our calendar.) Four titles are
presented each month, with student discussion
following. Any student whose school doesn't
participate in the DCF Award can also vote
here. |
