SUMMARY:Stories from the Queer Archives
DESCRIPTION:Objects such as banners\, T-shirts\, and buttons in the Vermont Queer Archives at the Pride Center of Vermont reflect currents and changes in the lives of Vermont’s LGBTQ+ community. \nMeg Tamulonis\, volunteer curator of the Archives\, discusses how these objects mark various milestones\, from Pride events to legal rulings\, and considers why some parts of the queer community aren’t well-represented in the Archives. She’ll explain why there aren’t many artifacts from the era before the Stonewall Uprising in 1969\, and some of the ways we can continue to gather and learn about Vermont’s many queer histories. \nThis is a Vermont Humanities event hosted by Brownell Library and it is inspired by this year’s Vermont Read: Charity and Sylvia\, a graphic novel by Tillie Walden.  Program attendees can pick up a free copy of Charity and Sylvia at this event.

Come ready to swap opinions\, defend your favorites\, and discover your next great read. To vote for your favorite in March\, you’ll need to read at least five titles from this year’s Golden Dome list—so there’s plenty to keep you turning pages between meetings.
