Ongoing Programs for Ages 6-11
- Whimsical Wednesdays feature a rotation selection of fun activities for the after school crowd, from crafts to engineering and more. This program is offered every Wednesday when school is in session.
- Chess Time: Whether you're new to the game or already a pro, join us for Chess Time. For all ages. This program is offered once per month.
- Afterschool Movie: At least once a month, kids can join us for a movie and popcorn. Check our event calendar for more details on the movie.
- STEM Challenge: Stop by the Winnie Bell Maker Space in Youth Nonfiction to experiment, tinker, and explore with a monthly STEM Challenge. This program is available for about 2 weeks each month, and it is made possible with support from the Winnie Bell Learned Fund.
- Art Lab: Art Lab is about process not product, so have fun with a variety of art materials and prompts! This program is available for about 2 weeks each month, and it is made possible with support from the Winnie Bell Learned Fund. Available while supplies last.
- Monthly Scavenger Hunts invite youth of all ages to explore the youth area.
- Red Clover Group: Children from kindergarten to fourth grade are invited to participate in a book club devoted to Vermont’s picture book award, the Red Clover Book Award. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month (October-March), 1:30-2:30pm. Each year’s list is selected by Vermont librarians and educators, it includes ten books. Participants must read all ten of the titles on the list to be eligible for voting, which will occur at the last book group meeting in March. Please register to participate in the Red Clover Book Group.
- Golden Dome Book Group: Children and teens from fourth through eighth grade are invited to participate in a book club devoted to theGolden Dome Book Award. The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month (October-March), 1:30-2:30pm. Each year’s list is selected by Vermont librarians and educators; it includes twenty-five books. Participants are encouraged to read five of the titles on the list to be eligible for voting, which will occur at the last meeting in March. Please register to participate in the Golden Dome Book Club.
- Lego Fun: Build creatively with Legos by yourself or with others. Your creations will be displayed in the library! This program is offered once per month.
Regularly scheduled programs start in September or October and run through mid-May; we pause our regularly scheduled programs to accommodate family vacations during school breaks.
