Click here to register for the 2025 Summer Reading ProgramCreate art, make some noise, write a story, and COLOR OUR WORLD during Brownell Library’s 2025 Summer Reading Program! This year’s festivities kick off on June 25th with the Big Blue Trunk, cotton candy, and face painting at our annual Summer Kick Off Party and extend through mid-August with a variety of programs that bring youth and families together. Some highlights that we are excited about this year include our Science of Sound and Colorful Crafternoon series, visits from cartoonist Rick Stromoski and VINS, a Tiny Art Challenge that celebrates community creativity, and a Tie-Dye Party! Be sure to check out our Summer Reading Brochures (linked below) and our Events Calendar for a full list of programs and descriptions.
Children and teens can register for the 2025 Summer Reading Program starting June 2nd. Once you register, stop by the youth circulation desk to pick up your summer reading materials, including a reading log, or download a reading log linked below.
All registered participants are eligible to win raffle prizes, which include a $50 Amazon gift card and prizes from local businesses. Starting June 25th, children and teens will receive a raffle ticket or a small prize from the treasure box every time they show us an updated reading log - no matter if they’ve read one new book since their last visit, or 100. Read-alouds, audio books, graphic novels, magazines all count towards summer reading! In addition to reporting books read, registered teens will also receive raffle tickets every time they attend a program or volunteer at the library.
  • Everyone who participates in our summer reading program is invited to the Summer Celebration with No Strings Marionettes on Wednesday, Aug. 13th from 5:30-7pm at Maple Street Park. We will contact the winners of our children’s raffle after the Summer Reading Celebration on August 13th.
  • All teens going into grades 6-12 are invited to our Teen Summer Reading Party on Tuesday, August 12, 6-8! We will play hide-and-seek in the stacks, eat ice cream, and complete the teen raffle drawing.
